Trial Lawyers Conference Hits Halifax in November

As chair of the upcoming Conference of the Atlantic Provinces Trial Lawyers Association, I encourage you to attend this conference if your law practice includes representing injured people in car accident injury claims in Atlantic Canada.

The Conference is called Advanced Damages: Quarterbacking your Claim for Economic Loss, and this focus is on how to prove the economic loss portions of injury claims now that the Minor Injury Caps are here to stay. We have some great guest speakers, including Cara Brown of Brown Economic Consulting, BC trial lawyer Derek Miura and Chartered Accountant/Business Valuator Daniel Jennings of Deliotte Touche, just to name a few.

I will be giving a paper presentation called Playing the Odds: Simple Probability in Assessing Damages. This presentation will discuss how you can use the law of simple probability to your client’s advantage, and will discuss the opportunities and challenges created by a 2009 NB Court of Appeal Case involving assessment of damages using simple probability.

For more information, visit the APTLA website to download the conference brochure.
